Transportation Guide

Getting around Disney World

🚝 Monorail

Disney's iconic monorail system operates three loops connecting the Transportation & Ticket Center, Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT.

  • Express: TTC to Magic Kingdom (direct, fastest option)
  • Resort Loop: TTC → Polynesian → Grand Floridian → Magic Kingdom
  • EPCOT Loop: TTC → EPCOT (direct)
Hours:Typically 30 minutes before park open until 1 hour after close

Tip: Take the Resort Monorail at night for a scenic loop past the resorts

🚡 Disney Skyliner

The Skyliner gondola system connects EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with several resorts via aerial cable cars.

  • EPCOT (International Gateway) ↔ Caribbean Beach (hub station)
  • Caribbean Beach ↔ Hollywood Studios
  • Caribbean Beach ↔ Art of Animation / Pop Century
  • Caribbean Beach ↔ Riviera Resort
Capacity:Up to 10 guests per gondola
Hours:Typically 30 minutes before earliest park open until 1.5 hours after latest close

Tip: Request an accessible gondola for extra room with strollers

⛴ Boats & Ferries

Water transportation is available across several routes, offering a scenic alternative to buses.

  • TTC to Magic Kingdom via ferry boats
  • Hollywood Studios ↔ EPCOT via Friendship boats
  • Fort Wilderness / Wilderness Lodge → Magic Kingdom via boat
  • Disney Springs water taxis

Tip: Boats between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios take about 20 minutes — sometimes faster than the bus

🚌 Bus System

The bus network is the backbone of Disney World transportation, connecting every resort to every theme park and Disney Springs.

  • Buses connect every resort to every park and Disney Springs
  • Frequency: Every 20 minutes during peak, may be less frequent at off-peak times
  • Hours: Begin 45 minutes before park open, end 1 hour after park close
  • GPS tracking available in the My Disney Experience app

Tip: Buses are the only option for Value and Moderate resorts (except Skyliner-connected ones)

🚶 Walking Paths

Several resorts are within walking distance of theme parks, which can be the fastest option during busy times.

  • Contemporary / Bay Lake Tower → Magic Kingdom (10-15 min walk)
  • EPCOT resorts (BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin) → EPCOT International Gateway (5-15 min)
  • EPCOT resorts → Hollywood Studios (15-20 min walk)

Tip: Walking to EPCOT from the BoardWalk area is often the fastest option

🚗 Ride Share & Minnie Vans

Third-party ride share and Disney's own premium car service are available for direct, on-demand transportation.

  • Uber / Lyft: Widely available, can be dropped off at resort lobbies
  • Minnie Vans (Lyft): Premium Disney service with car seats available, currently limited availability
