Ticket Guide

Everything you need to know about Disney World tickets

Base Ticket
  • Access to 1 park per day
  • Valid for a set number of days (1–10 days)
  • Price range: ~$109–$189/day for a 1-day ticket, significantly cheaper per day with multi-day (4-day ~$101/day, 10-day ~$58/day)
  • Days don't have to be consecutive

Best for: Families visiting fewer parks or sticking to 1 park per day.

Park Hopper
  • Visit multiple parks in the same day (after 2 PM)
  • Add-on cost: ~$65–$75 on top of base ticket

Best for: Shorter trips where you want to maximize park time.

Note: Park Hopping begins at 2 PM — visit your reserved park first, then hop.

Park Hopper Plus
  • Everything in Park Hopper + access to water parks and other experiences
  • Includes: Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, ESPN Wide World of Sports, miniature golf
  • Add-on cost: ~$85–$95 on top of base ticket

Best for: Longer trips or families wanting water park days.

Florida Resident Tickets
  • Special pricing for FL residents (must show valid FL ID)
  • Significant discounts, especially on multi-day tickets
  • Seasonal options available (weekday-only, etc.)
Date-Based Pricing

Disney uses date-based pricing — the same ticket costs more on busier days.

  • Cheapest: January (after MLK weekend), February (non-Presidents' week), September, early December (before holiday parties)
  • Most expensive: Spring Break (March), Summer (June–July), Christmas/New Year's week, Thanksgiving week

Tip: Buying tickets for off-peak dates can save $30–$50 per person per day.

Park Reservations

Park reservations are NO LONGER required for date-based tickets (as of 2024).

  • Still required for: Annual Passholders, Disney Resort guests with ticket packages
  • If you have a Park Hopper, your first park of the day must be your reserved park (if reservation required)

Tip: Even though reservations aren't required, popular parks can reach capacity — arriving early is still recommended.

Lightning Lane

Skip the line with Lightning Lane passes. Three tiers: Multi Pass ($15–$35), Single Pass (varies), Premier Pass ($129–$449).

Where to Buy & Discounts

Official: Disney World website or app

Authorized Discount Sources:

  • Undercover Tourist — typically 5–10% off gate price, fully authorized
  • Military discounts — active duty and veterans get significant savings
  • AAA — modest discount through local offices
  • Target RedCard — 5% off Disney gift cards (use gift cards to buy tickets)
  • Canadian residents — special Canada pricing packages
Avoid unofficial ticket resellers. Only buy from Disney directly or authorized sellers to avoid fraud.
Annual Passes

Florida Residents Only (4 tiers):

  • Disney Pixie Dust Pass (~$399) — weekday only, blockout dates, 1 park/day
  • Disney Pirate Pass (~$749) — most weekdays + some weekends, blockout dates
  • Disney Sorcerer Pass (~$969) — most days, limited blockout dates
  • Disney Incredi-Pass (~$1,449) — no blockout dates, includes Park Hopper

All passes include: free parking, merchandise/dining discounts (10–20%), PhotoPass downloads.

Annual passes are currently ONLY available to Florida residents. Out-of-state guests must use regular tickets.

Tip: If you visit WDW twice within a year, an annual pass often pays for itself.

  • Free admission — no ticket required for children under age 3
  • No park reservation needed
  • Can still enjoy many rides (no height requirement rides)
